Leonardo Zylberberg graduated with the degree of Arquitecto from the University of Buenos Aires in his native Argentina, obtained his MS in Architecture and Urban Design from Columbia University in 1979 and pursued further advanced studies at the NY Institute of Architecture and Urban Studies. He is a registered architect in California, New York, and Argentina who has designed numerous residential, commercial, and light industrial buildings as well as urban projects. In addition to housing and private residences in the Bay Area, his built work includes projects in New York, Switzerland, and Argentina.

In addition to his practice, Leonardo Zylberberg is a professor of Architecture at California College of the Arts in San Francisco. Prior to this, he taught at several architectural programs including the GSAPP at Columbia University (1981–91), The CED (1991–7) at UC Berkeley, SCI-arc (1992–8) and the NY Institute for Architecture and Urban Studies (1980–2). He has taught advanced design workshops as a guest professor at the ETSAB-Escuela Tecnica Superior de Aquitectura de Barcelona and the UBA-Universidad de Buenos Aires and UTDT-Universidad Torcuato Di Tella in Buenos Aires, and has been guest critic at architecture schools in the United States, Europe, and South America. Every other year he leads the architecture summer program to Latin America in Argentina and Chile, and has contributed to the establishment of a student exchange with the UTDT of Buenos Aires.
